2. CROWN BIBLICAL FINANCIAL STUDY. Instructors: Jerry and Laura Kaufman, Jamie and Jeff Schepel. Schedule: 1st and 2nd hours, 7:00-9:15. (Note: Starts, January 25th.)

Unfortunately, most Christians have been taught only God’s principle of handling 10 percent of their income—the area of giving. Although this is crucial, they do not understand the Lord’s perspective of handling the other 90 percent. In the Crown Biblical Financial Study, you will learn what Scripture teaches about managing all your possessions.
The Biblical Financial Study is a 10-week life group that meets once a week for two hours. Approximately two hours of preparation are required outside of class each week. Students complete a homework assignment, memorize Scripture, and pray for one another daily. They are also encouraged and held accountable to apply God’s financial principles. Topics include: Getting out of debt, Spending, Saving and Investing, Budgeting, Giving, Earning money, and Training children. Cost: $52.00 ($62.00/couple).

3. WHY SMALL GROUPS? Instructor: Laura Brown. Schedule: 1st hour, 7:00-8:00 for six weeks. Cost: None.

Something has happened in the past 1900 years, the church has moved away from that devotion we see in the Book of Acts. Those first Christians were completely committed. They enjoyed God and one another, this had a dramatic effect on the world around them. They were devoted, they were serving, they were evangelistic. Not quite the same today is it? Serving others should be a normal attribute of being a Christian – John 13:15 Jesus said, “For I gave you an example that you also should do as I did to you”- Christianity 101. Jerry Bridges says this: “If we have a serving attitude, we can develop an observant eye to see where we can serve most effectively- The reason most of us do not see opportunities to serve, is that we are continually thinking about ourselves instead of others.” Comfort levels are stretched, but maturity levels rise when we serve whole-heartedly, because serving makes us more like Christ!  Elton Trueblood says this about today’s Christian Church: “Perhaps the greatest single weakness of the contemporary Christian Church is that millions of supposed members are not really involved at all, and what is worse, they do not think it’s strange that they are not.”

4. THE NEXT STEP (FOR NEW BELIEVERS). Instructor: Mark DeMateo. Schedule: 1st hour, 7:00-8:00 for six weeks. Cost: None, workbook provided.

This class is for those who are new believers and want to know what they should do with their new found faith. It is also for those who have been believers for a while and need a tune up or encouragement to begin their walk with God afresh.
The Purpose of this Class:
“…that you may become mature Christians and may fulfill God’s will for your.” Cor. 4:12
“We are not meant to remain as children … but to grow up in every way into Christ” Eph. 4:14-15
We will focus on the Four Basic Habits every Christian needs to develop in order to grow to spiritual maturity:
1. Time with God’s Word
“If you continue in my Word, then you are my disciples indeed. And you will know the truth an the truth will set you free.” John 8:31-322
2. Prayer
“If you remain in me, and my words remain in you, then you will ask for anything you wish, and you shall have it . . . in this way you become my disciples.” John 15:7-8
3. Giving
“None of you can be my disciple unless he gives up all of his possessions.” Luke 14:23
“The purpose of tithing is to teach you to always put God first in your lives.” Deut 14:23
4. Fellowship
“Love each other just as much as I love you. Your strong love for each other will prove to the world that you are my disciples.” John 13:34-35

This class will:
Equip you with the skills you need to begin these habits.
Explain the tools you need to continue these habits.

Course Goals: Equipping you to use God’s Word (Philippians) for daily examinations to help you develop the joyful mind. Jesus said in John 15:11, “I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.” This bible study will help you discover first the four “thieves” that rob us of our joy: circumstances, people, things, worry; then determine the kinds of attitudes we must have in order to capture and conquer these “thieves.” Learning and living go together.

Philippians – The Joyful Christian Mind
The Single Mind – Joy in spite of Circumstances (key verse: 1:21)
The Submissive Mind – Joy in spite of People (key verse: 2:3)
The Spiritual Mind – Joy in spite of Things (key verses: 3:19-20)
The Secure Mind – Joy that defeats Worry (key verses: 4:6-7) – Warren Wiersbe, Be Joyful
